The ability of the soul

stocksnap_mqvg0ba39u
As God created flesh and then breathed life into Adam, the first living soul was created. The soul is the convergence between spirit and flesh and is the middle point of the human; It is immortal and will live forever, whether with God or without.
Many Christians believe we do not have free will, but the soul proves otherwise as within it, contains the emotions, the mind and free choice. Adam freely chose to eat the apple as did Eve, and we freely have made a decision whether we need a saviour or not. So what is the ability that the soul possesses?
Mind – We either see God or desire our flesh
Emotions – We either believe truth or are deceived with lies
Free Will – We either allow our spirit to rule soul and flesh or allow the flesh to rule soul and spirit
Jesus dying on the cross enabled freedom for our souls from sin, and we have the choice to allow our soul to stay in that state on a regular basis. Jesus desires that we do all things through Him and that means working out our salvation on a day to day basis. What does this mean?
Allowing HolyGhost to live through our day to day lives
Living out our God chosen purpose
Proving on a day to day basis that Jesus’s Truth has set us free
The soul will always live, and we have a choice what we allow to come into it and what goes out of it. We also have an opportunity to experience a soulish relationship or a spiritual one with God.

Disciples do the will of the Father

genie-353268_1280

God’s will is much spoken about as it should be and plenty of us including those who feature in God’s Word have managed to make a mess of it at some point in time. Disobedience seems to be the root of not allowing God to fulfil His will or purpose in our lives, but we are incredibly thankful to God for His grace and mercy because as we regularly divert from His route, He has already found a way back to His plan and purpose. Many never get back to the road because they find the path too difficult or they struggle with obedience, then there are others who God carves a new course out for which is an amazing example of God’s tender love for His creation. So why do so many live unfulfilled lives?

The simple answer is that believers tend to see God as a genie or a grandfather in the sky. That’s why the atheists are busy laughing and calling God a fairy but if we were busy seeing God for who He is (No man has ever seen Him) then there is a chance that we will see the genuine fulfilment of His will on earth. Below I look at what believers do:

Expect monthly handouts – Like the UN World Food Programme
Expecting instant miracles – Like Maggi Noodles
Expecting blessings to land on their laps – Like babies needing their daily feed

God can do any of the above but they are extremely rare, and they aren’t ever part of a daily lifestyle that we should be living in Christ because I never saw the disciples live like it. Below I look at what disciples do:

They hear God – Relationship
They are obedient to God – Purpose and Desire
They are guided by His Word – He becomes a light to our feet
They overcome expected challenges on the road marked out – Understand spiritual warfare

This is how you can do the will of the Father, and if you want that tight, family-like relationship with God, then you must live like this all the time. Jesus told us in His Word that whoever does the will of The Father is a family member to Him. Your path isn’t meant to be easy, and there rarely is a free ride but if you want to expect then expect the impossible God’s way. God won’t move outside His Word so if you’re expectation isn’t found in His Word then you will never be able to see His will let alone fulfil it.

The blind lead the blind, and it is now time to open your eyes.

Apostleship i – Personal lifestyle

art-creative-apple-glass

Christian lifestyle living is one of those things that require believers to demonstrate hard work in their faith and continual working out of personal salvation which means, looking deep into your heart, being honest with your issues and be willing to deal with them. This is exactly what God had asked of Paul when there was a personal struggle in His walk with Jesus and the same was for me. Walking in authority, boldness and performing miracles has always been something that came naturally to me since my conversion to Christ, but behind all that God has been doing a great work in my heart and lifestyle. No choice because pride comes before a fall.
If I were to name my greatest challenges regarding lifestyle, I would say they would fall under the HALT principle. I believe we should never get too hungry, angry, lonely and tired, with the latter two being real long term issues and that required me to take some action that would prevent me from falling into sin. While dealing with the heart was one area another has been living a certain way that would glorify God,  pleasing to Him and bring more holiness into my life and that did mean doing some strange things which friends and family struggled with initially. I would only eat certain foods (still true today), spend time fasting, keeping certain friendship circles, etc. While some of those decisions seemed strange, naturally they gave me firm foundations and promotion spiritually which enabled me to walk in a certain freedom in Christ. I am formed wonderfully, but keeping myself wonderful means obedience and sacrifice.
The path of leadership in Christianity is a narrow one, full of sacrifice and weakness and these are particular qualities needed to be successful. Ministry and career aren’t easy work, and it certainly isn’t meant to be glamorous therefore the indication in scripture is that hard work is the only way forward, and the beautiful thing about that is we don’t have to do it without Jesus. He has been the perfect example for us, and we can always go to Him in times of need. His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
People will never understand your struggles, your sin, your sacrifices and it is important to note that they aren’t meant to. It is something private between you and Jesus which needs to be kept holy because eventually the world will see the reasons for it. Enjoy working on the inside of you and let God deal with the external issues.

Book of Job – My business struggles

business

I had desired to be a pastor for many years after I committed my life to Christ but the Lord Jesus would always lead me towards a career in business.  I resisted the call for business for many years because I have a real passion for bringing the knowledge of Christ to lost souls until one sunny day in Copenhagen, I heard the Lord speak to me about the ‘rich person’. “Who will go them?” A new vision was birthed at that moment.
I have titled this article based on the story of Job which is about loss, redemption and overflow, and this is precisely how I can describe my career in business. Through a lack of wisdom I have lost plenty of money; through demonic attacks I have lost plenty opportunities but in the midst of all crises God has remained faithful to His vision and the cause He has for The Kingdom.
God designed us to make decisions based on taking His counsel but human nature drives us to be the decision makers in our lives, and this is where I had fallen short for years. All of my business failures are down to one simple factor; I was making bad decisions compared to God ones. Through each wrong decision, I found redemption through Jesus’s blood, but there have always been consequences to those bad decisions. Just as Israel took a 40-year detour, I too have taken long detours, but grace is always bringing me back.
Through every setback, I have found opportunity and today I can stand confidently as an entrepreneur because of this. I learned an important key in this life, and that is that opportunities will never cease to find you as long as your eyes are open. I could have buried my head in the sand through every disappointment, but instead, I chose to keep my head lifted high, and that is exactly where I could see Jesus.
Something that plenty of Christians struggle with is money and the potential for God’s children to have lots of it brings fear upon even the most faithful believers. Money has a place in God’s Kingdom if used correctly and in His wisdom; anything else does boil down to greed and lust. It is totally fine to be successful on earth as long as God is behind your decisions, purpose and vision. My struggles are now my strengths, and as I press forward as an entrepreneur, I hope to continue moving ahead with God’s agenda and not my own.
Money is a good thing, just don’t lust after it.

Exodus – The power of change

change leadership

Change is the most difficult condition that a human grows through, and that is because it challenges your comfort zones. Yes that’s right we all have comfort zones and the majority of them are formed in the image of the world we live in. Carrying on from my last post which you can find here if you missed it. I realised through my life of failure that I needed a genuine change in my life. Depressive and negative attitudes that became an important part of my life had also drawn me to a positive situation. In short I couldn’t do this life on my own!

Around 2001 around 15-20 people in my family had converted to Christianity and I found this incredibly strange and very uncomfortable, yet I saw the positive impact it had in their lives, but I was cool with what I was doing. You know the life of sin is very comfortable until I found out it really isn’t. My life had spiralled out of control, and it got to the point where I had to leave the country (UK) for my own safety as I rubbed shoulders with the wrong crowd. Between 2000-2002 God had been speaking to me through my family, His Word, and I was ignorant because I didn’t want to deal with change. Everything God spoke in those two years came true, and I couldn’t deny Him anymore.

Just before I had left the UK to flee for safety, I had made a commitment to Christ and had converted to Christianity despite being so against it, but yet I could not deny Jesus was chasing me through His Word. It was only then the Exodus from my life of sin began, and I have experienced that cleansing power of Christ on a day to day basis which has been ongoing until today. So what has changed since 2002?

No more drugs
No more sex (I am single as I write this)
I finished my degree
Productivity
Global Entrepreneur
Global Ministry (I have overseen around 50 churches in Africa)

This change took hard work, and I couldn’t have done it but for Jesus, His Word, His Presence, His Love and His Passion but ultimately it was me who took that choice to activate those things in my life. I can tell you now that change never ends, but we all need that foundational truth in God which brings stability.

What caused me to change? – His love
What did I need? – Purpose
Where did I find it? – Jesus

Change is healthy, and it has brought me freedom, and that hasn’t altered despite holding key leadership positions in the last 15 years. Abundant life means constant change!
